The Green Party believes that compassion in healthcare and the prevention of illness should be at the forefront of our healthcare service. They would
maintain a publicly funded, publicly provided health service, and oppose NHS privatisation and treating healthcare as a market. Prescriptions, eye tests, dental care and care for the elderly would be free for the whole of the UK.

UKIP Health Policy

UKIP supports the NHS but wants more local control through elected County Health Boards.
Nursing staff will be subject to greater training and authority through the re-instatement of matrons with greater control and responsibility.
Services, including hospitals and ambulances will be franchised out through the County Health Boards.
